Jim Trenkle announced his departure from the French corporate venture firm Sanofi Ventures, the corporate arm of pharmaceutical conglomerate Sanofi.

Trenkle will work as a partner for Denmark-based venture capital firm Novo Ventures, a subsidiary of Novo Holdings, which is part of global medical treatment foundation Novo Nordisk Foundation.

“After a wonderful couple years in Boston, I’m delighted to be back in the Bay Area to support the exceptional science and therapeutic opportunities for patients that this unique ecosystem creates,” said Trenkle on a LinkedIn post announcing his new position.

At Sanofi Ventures Trenkle worked as head of investments for nearly two years, overseeing the unit’s investment in several private US therapeutics and life sciences companies.

Novo Ventures focuses on investing in private and public biotech companies. Novo Nordisk Foundation is an international foundation investing in medical treatment and research. It is believed to be one of the wealthiest charitable foundations in the world.
