MoneySupermarket buys OnTrees

MoneySupermarket, a UK-based consumer financial comparison website, has acquired financial planning app developer OnTrees for an undisclosed sum, according to Insider Media.

UK-based OnTrees was previously owned by DMG Media, the conglomerate that owns the Daily Mail, Zoopla and Teletext Holidays amongst other brands.

MoneySupermarket’s last acquisition came in 2012 when it bought rival comparison site MoneySavingExpert for £87m ($146m).

OnTrees allows users to see how they’re spending their money by linking the app up to their bank account and credit cards. The service is intended to complement the financial planning advice Money Supermarket offers on its website.

OnTrees managing director Charlie Mortimer said: “We’re thrilled to be joining the team at MoneySupermarket. With their support and reach we will be even better placed to offer customers simple and innovative tools to keep track of their money and to make a positive impact on the landscape of financial services in the UK”.
