Gaspar has been tasked with setting up a CVC structure for Afya, which offers medical training in addition to digital health tools that help users strengthen the medical services they offer. Media group Bertelsmann held a 31% stake in the company as of May this year.

Afya already maintains a vehicle called Afya Ventures and has used it to incubate three startups – Plantonist, RadioMed and Volver – according to its website.

Gaspar had spent two and a half years as a startup investor and portfolio manager at healthcare provider Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein’s technology development subsidiary, Eretz.bio, until March 2021. He co-founded Vitalicia, a developer of decentralised messaging software for use in healthcare, in 2019.
