UK based data security firm CertiVox has raised $8m in a series B round from NTT Docomo Ventures, the corporate venturing unit owned by Japan-based domestic mobile service provider NTT Docomo, in its first European deal and returning backer Octopus Investments.
In November 2011 CetriVox raised $1.5m in a series A round led by Pantech Ventures, with participation from Octopus, and has secured $17m in funding since it was founded in 2011.
NTT’s involvement is understood to have followed from UK government agency UK Trade & Investment’s meeting with Japan-based corporate venturing units in November 2012 organised by Global Corporate Venturing.
CertiVox develops encryption tools and web authentication platforms for corporate and enterprise use. CetriVox plans to use the funds to expand sales of its M-Pin Authentication Client and Server software, and to continue ongoing development and marketing efforts.
Brian Spector, CEO of CertiVox, said: “We have been experiencing strong M-Pin adoption in the enterprise, and this investment will enable us to achieve our vision of delivering a ubiquitous, strong authentication platform across digital channels.”
