M&A
Business operations automation technology developer Mad Street Den has acquired Inturn, a US-based inventory sales platform backed by telecommunications firm Novel Group‘s Novel TMT Ventures, for an undisclosed amount.
Social media platform operator Meta has paid an undisclosed amount to purchase Audio Analytic, a UK-based sound recognition technology developer that counts energy supplier National Grid and aerospace and property group Marshall of Cambridge as investors, The Telegraph has reported.
Betterez, a Canada-based developer of transportation ticket management platform backed by travel technology group Amadeus IT Group and airline operator JetBlue, has been purchased by peer Busbud for an undisclosed sum.
Toy producer Mattel has acquired Caribu, the US-headquartered creator of an interactive video calling app, for an undisclosed amount allowing telecoms group AT&T to exit. It had raised over $5m in equity and crowdfunding including $1.3m through an AT&T-backed round in 2018.
Reverse merger
Profusa, a US-based digital health services provider that counts integrated circuit manufacturer Maxim Integrated, pharmaceutical firm Tasly Pharmaceutical and cybersecurity software producer Qihoo 360 among its investors, has agreed to join forces with Nasdaq-listed special purpose acquisition company NorthView Acquisition Corp in a reverse takeover deal. It gives the merged business a pro forma equity valuation of $264m.
Fund
US-based venture capital firm Wavemaker Impact has reached a $13m first close for a debut fund with a $25m target and limited partners including Kajima Ventures and JG Digital Equity Ventures, the corporate venturing arms of construction firm Kajima and conglomerate JG Summit respectively. Other LPs included Temasek’s Pavilion Capital unit, Singapore Economic Development Board’s EDB New Ventures subsidiary, Grantham Foundation, unnamed family offices and high-net-worth individuals based in Asia and Europe.
