Telstra answers Matrixx’s series C call

US-based real-time data processing company Matrixx Software has raised an undisclosed amount from a consortium led by Australia-based telecommunications company Telstra’s corporate venturing unit, which participated as a new investor.

Investing alongside Telstra Ventures in the series C round were Matrixx’s previous backers, including Innovacom, the former in-house corporate venturing fund backed by France Telecom, telecommunications company Swisscom’s corporate venturing unit, and private equity firms Adams Street Partners, Tugboat Partners and Greylock Partners.

Telstra Ventures managing director Mark Sherman, who will join Matrixx’s board, said: “Telstra recognised the strategic importance of Matrixx’s technology to the future of digital service providers.

“Matrixx enables service providers to create the high-touch, low cost-to-serve applications, services and personalised pricing plans that offer a great customer experience and strong future revenue growth potential.”

In April 2012, Swisscom Ventures backed Matrixx, investing an undisclosed sum.

The round came after Matrixx raised $12m in its series B round from Innovacom, Adams Street, Tugboat and Greylock. Matrixx’s series A round raised $9m in March 2010 after it secured $2.5m of early stage investment in 2009.
