US-based restaurant payments app Cover has raised $5.5m in series A funding in a round featuring O’Reilly Alphatech (OATV), the corporate venturing arm of media company O’Reilly Media.
Venture capital firm Spark Ventures led the round, whcih also included VC fund Lerer Ventures and several private investors.
Cover is a restaurant wallet app that allows users to make mobile payments using their smartphones. It will invest the funds to redesign and market its app, and to increase staff at its New York office.
Cover previously raised $1.5m in seed funding from OATV, Lerer and assorted angel investors in May 2013.
