Intel takes another journey with SilkRoad

SilkRoad, the US-based provider of a cloud-based staff management service, has secured $14m in series E funding from investors including Intel Capital, the corporate venturing unit of semiconductor company Intel.

Azure Capital Partners, Tenaya Capital, and Two Sigma Investments also took part in the round. The round is the fourth consecutive one Intel has participated in, including a $40m round in 2010 that it co-led and a $35m series C round in 2012 that also included telecommunications company NTT.

The company has now raised at least $159m in funding since 2008.

Founded in 2003, SilkRoad provides cloud-based human resources software that enables businesses to find, attract, develop, and retain talent. Most of its clients are small and medium-sized businesses, though its larger clients include multinational corporations such as IBM, eBay and L’Oréal.

SilkRoad plans to use the newly secured funds to bring the new edition of its SilkRoad Life Suite software to market.
