TimeHop skips to $10m series B

US-based social media app Timehop has received $10m in series B funding in a round featuring O’Reilly Alpha Tech Ventures, the corporate venturing division of technology publishing company O’Reilly Media, Venturebeat reported on Tuesday.

The round was led by venture capital firm Shasta Ventures, with participation from venture firm Spark Capital and Randi Zuckerberg.

The app, which claims to have over 3 million visitors a day, allows users to see what they were doing on social media on that day in previous years. The funding will enable the company to scale operations and hire additional staff..

Timehop raised $1.1m in seed funding from O’Reilly, Spark Capital and assorted angel investors in 2012, and $3m in a 2013 series A round led by Spark Capital that included O’Reilly.

A graduate of the Techstarts NYC accelerator programme, Timehop was formed out of a FourSquare hackathon event in February 2011 as 4Squareand7YearsAgo.
