Aicent proves the right call for Syniverse

Aicent, a US-based provider of data network services for mobile operators, has been acquired by telecommunications technology company Syniverse for approximately $290m, providing an exit for wireless technology producer Qualcomm.

Aicent provides data networks, messaging and roaming solutions for telecom network operators and claims to work with the 10 largest mobile companies in the world.

Syniverse, which provides technology and business services for the telecoms industry, will use the deal to expand its reach and increase service to customers beyond North America, focusing particularly in Asia.

Aicent raised $3m in 2008 from Intel Capital, the corporate venturing arm of semiconductor maker Intel. It received $14.3m in a 2007 series C round led by Warburg Pincus that also featured Qualcomm Ventures, Qualcomm’s corporate venturing unit.
