Microsoft and Akamai combine for cybersecurity accelerator

Computing company Microsoft, cloud services provider Akamai Tehnologies and venture capital firm Jerusalem Venture Partners (JVP) launched a cybersecurity accelerator on Tuesday that will be located in Israel alongside the Microsoft Ventures Accelerator.

JVP will invest $1m into one of the startups at the end of the programme. All of the participants will receive mentorship from Microsoft and Akamai, with Akamai investing up to $25,000 in convertible notes to all the startups accepted for the accelerator.

Zack Weisfeld, head of Microsoft Ventures Europe, said: “Like us, Akamai is a big proponent of secure computing with a massive reach. We are eager to partner with Akamai to spur the success of cybersecurity innovation based on our respective insights and learning gained over the years.”

Applications to the programme are now open. Finalists will be announced at the end of August, which will run through until January.
