SoftBank Capital, the corporate venturing arm of telecommunications company SoftBank, has raised $100m for a new venture fund, according to the Boston Business Journal, which cited a regulatory filing yesterday.
The company has not released any official information on the fund, SoftBank Capital Fund ’14 LP, which has one investor, according to the filing.
SoftBank Capital raised $250m in February 2013 for a fund named SoftBank PrinceVille Investments, later closing a $51m fund, SoftBank Capital Technology New York Fund II, later the same year.
Portfolio companies of the corporate venturing unit include online media companies Buzzfeed and Huffington Post, mobile game developer Zynga and music annotation website Genius.
