Pierre Lamond has taken up an advisory position at venture firm Formation 8 after leaving Khosla Ventures three months ago following the closing of its lastest fund, TechCrunch has reported.
Founded in 2011 by Gideon Yu, formerly Facebook’s chief financial officer, Formation 8 closed its first fund at $448m last year, with backing from Asian conglomerates.
In this new role at Formation 8, Lamond will mentor the founding partners and entrepreneurs in whih the firm will invest. Lamond will sit in on board meetings of portfolio companies and give Formation 8 advice on possible investments. Lamond will also play a role in recruitment of new talent at the firm.
Lamond joined Khosla Ventures in 2009 as part of its KV III fund, where he was focused on investing in cleantech and research-heavy industrial companies.
Lamond told TechCrunch: “I’m what you might call a consigliere. When you think about the venture business… You don’t learn that in business school. You need to go through an apprenticeship and the guys at Formation 8 know that.”
