US-based networking technology developer Pica8 has added Japan-based conglomerate Mitsui to a series B round that reached a $12.5m first close in October this year.
The first tranche was co-led by VantagePoint Capital Partners, Cross Head and Pacific Venture Partners. The size of Mitsui’s investment has not been disclosed.
Pica8 previously raised $6.6m in a December 2012 series A round that featured VantagePoint. It has developed a software-defined network operating system for data centres.
Mitsui, Japan-focused Cross Head and Taiwan-based Pacific Venture Partners will help Pica8 focus on expanding in the Japanese and Taiwanese markets, although the company has not disclosed into which areas the new funding will be channelled.
