X.ai, the US-based developer of an artificial intelligence-powered personal assistant, has raised $9.2m in a series A round backed by telecommunications company Softbank, TechCrunch reported yesterday.
FirstMark Capital led the round, which also featured venture capital firms IA Ventures, Pritzker Group Venture Capital and Crunchfund. X.ai, which raised the cash at a $40m post-cash valuation, received $2.1m in May 2014 from Softbank Capital, IA and Lerer Ventures.
Founded in 2013, X.ai is creating an electronic personal assistant that can schedule meetings for business customers. The funding will be used to build out and scale its product.
