ARM exits Annapurna Labs in $370m acquisition

E-commerce company Amazon agreed yesterday to acquire Israel-based semiconductor technology company Annapurna Labs for a price reported by Israeli financial newspaper Calcalist to be up to $370m.

Semiconductor company ARM and venture capital firm Walden International were reportedly investors in the company, which had raised an undisclosed eight-figure dollar sum prior to acquisition.

Annapurna, which has operated in stealth so far, specialises in microprocessors that facilitate faster data processing.

Amazon will incorporate Annapurna’s technology into Amazon Web Services, the cloud computing service it owns. Services provided by AWS include storage, online databases, analytics, application and deployment.
