Unify Square, a US-based developer of software, services and support for professional conference call service Skype for Business, raised $8.2m yesterday in a series B round featuring software company Microsoft.
Several former executives from internet company Yahoo, computer company IBM and software and IT services company Ariba, as well as Geoff Baldwin, chairman of Unify Square’s board, also participated in the round.
Unify Square has not yet closed the round, and hopes to raise another $2.6m. The company has attracted approximately $22.6m in funding and debt financing to date, according to regulatory filings.
Unify Square offers a range of tools built on top of Microsoft Lync, which Microsoft is currently rebranding as Skype for Business. Unify Square’s products include data analytics software that keeps track of call quality and employee satisfaction surveys.
The company will use the series B funding to support international expansion and to develop new products and services, as well as increase its presence throughout the Microsoft ecosystem.
Zig Serafin, corporate vice-president of Skype business services at Microsoft, said: “Unify Square’s proven portfolio of software, services and support helps large enterprises get the most out of Lync. We look forward to their growth and new innovations for the Skype for Business platform.”
