Singapore-based online ticketing platform Peatix received $5m in a series A round led by DG Incubation, an investment subsidiary of internet company Digital Garage, and featuring SPH Media Fund, the corporate venturing fund owned by media company Singapore Press Holdings; media company Sunny Side Up; Fidelity Growth Partners Japan; and Draper Nexus. Peatix has now raised $9.6m in total, with earlier investors also including Itochu Technology Ventures, conglomerate Itochu’s investment arm, 500 Startups, SunBridge Global Ventures and ZenShin Capital.
Intel Capital, the corporate venturing arm of semiconductor technology provider Intel, invested an undisclosed sum in CafeX Communications, a US-based developer of mobile and web advertising technology, on Wednesday. Founded in 2013, CafeX had previously raised $19.6m from investors including venture capital firm Illuminate Ventures, according to securities filings.
US-based medical device developer Advanced Catheter Therapies (ACT) closed a $4.5m series B round on Tuesday after receiving an undisclosed sum from TAM Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of industrial products manufacturer Toray Industries. Other series B investors include Chattanooga Renaissance Fund, Maclellan Foundation, Innova Fund, Incite Co-Investment Fund, DeMoss Alternative Opportunities Fund and Blank Slate Venture Fund, and ACT has now raised $7.5m in total.
Healthentic, the US-based developer of a big data analytics system that helps employers to find health savings, raised $3.75m on Thursday, increasing its total funding to about $20m in the process. The company did not disclose the participants in the latest round, but its investors include insurance claim processor Corvesta, care provider Hawaii Dental Service, WDS Holdings and WYSSTA Investments.
US-based fantasy sports gaming startup Draft has secured $3.5m in seed funding from digital media company Chernin Group, VC firm Upfront Ventures, which led the round, Advancit Capital, BoxGroup and QueensBridge Venture Partners, Re/code reported on Wednesday. Draft is targeting a broader audience than most existing games by removing the monetary caps used by them to gauge player value.
Bennett, Coleman & Co Ltd (BCCL), the holding company for the India-based Times Media Group, has agreed to invest Rs 200m ($3.2m) in Lifezen Healthcare, a subsidiary of India-based drug manufacturer BAI Pharma, through fully convertible debentures, MyIris reported on Thursday. Lifezen manufactures, distributes and sells pharmaceutical products.
Argentina-based satellite data provider Satellogic has raised an undisclosed sum from internet company Tencent and VC fund Pitanga Fund, according to Brazilian news source Globo. Satellogic, which is also backed by NXTP Labs, uses small satellites that cost as little as $250,000 to build.
India-based digital comic publisher Graphic India has secured $2.8m in a seed round co-led by CA Media, the Asian investment subsidiary off digital media company Chernin Group, and media company Start Media. The round, which included angel investors Julian Farrior and Dale Thoms, followed a $2.5m investment by CA Media in 2013 and will be used to create mobile content in languages including English, Hindi, Tamil.
Tingchebao, the China-based developer of a parking space locator app, raised RMB 16m ($2.6m) on Monday in a series A round led by Ping An Ventures, the VC subsidiary of insurance and financial services group Ping An, according to CYZone. VC firm Yonghua Capital also participated in the round, which will support the launch of an on-demand valet parking service connected to the app.
Data centre and colocation services provider Digital Realty Trust invested an undisclosed sum in US-based colocation technology developer Colovore on Wednesday. Colovore raised $8m in 2013from undisclosed investors, though its website lists data centre developer Pelio & Associates and unnamed Silicon Valley-based private investors as backers.
Altocloud, the US-based developer of a digital customer engagement platform for salespeople, exited stealth mode on Monday with $2m of seed funding co-led by mobile network provider Digicel, Delta Partners and ACT Venture Capital. Enterprise Ireland and Western Development Commission also contributed to the round.
Clue, the Germany-based developer of an app that helps women track their periods, closed $2m in funding on Wednesday from luxury goods producer French Groupe Arnault and angel investors including Brigitte Mohn. The startup has now raised about $3m overall, with earlier backers including Luminary Labs Ventures.
IDG Ventures India, a VC firm affiliated with media and data company International Data Group, has led a series A round for India-based travel community app Tripoto sized just under $2m that values it between Rs 1.5bn and Rs 4bn ($24m to $64m), the Economic Times reported on Thursday. The round, which followed a $400,000 seed round featuring Outbox Ventures, Palaash Ventures and assorted angel investors, will be used to scale Tripoto’s platform and increase the size of its workforce.
Marketing and advertising firm WPP has agreed to acquire a minority stake in FlowNetwork, a Sweden-based provider of over-the-top television content for newspapers. The companies did not disclose how much WPP invested or the size of the stake it secured.
Telecommunications firm SK Telecom invested $1.4m in US-based smart 3D camera developer Dual Aperture International (DAI) on Wednesday. The cash was provided as part of a strategic agreement to accelerate development of DAI’s technology.
IDG Ventures India has invested Rs 80m ($1.3m) in India-based home rental marketplace NestAway Technologies together with angel investors including Naveen Tewari, the founder of mobile advertising company InMobi, the Economic Times reported on Monday. NestAway, which was founded in January, will use the seed funding to launch in the states of National Capital Region and Pune.
Enterprise services company Walden Global Services (WGS) has provided an undisclosed amount of seed funding for Singapore-based freelance employment marketplace Temploy, Tech in Asia reported on Wednesday. In conjunction with the funding, Indonesia-based WGS plans to provide an office in its home country that will operate as a local base for Temploy.
PLucky, the Japan-based operator of service analysis platform Logbook, has received an undisclosed amount of seed funding from internet company Adways and investment firm Global Brain, The Bridge reported on Wednesday. CyberAgent Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of internet company CyberAgent, previously invested about $200,000 in PLucky in 2013.
