T-Venture backs The Band acquisition

Delivery Agent, a T-Venture-backed provider of entertainment shopping channels, has acquired interactive media agency The Band.

T-Venture, the in-house corporate venturing division of Deutsche Telekom, invested for the first time in Delivery Agent in its October $25m funding round and the money has fuelled a series of acquisitions and developments by its portfolio company.

The Band was founded in 2006 by several executives at interactive TV advertising firm Turner Media Group, according to news provider PaidContent.org, and its purchase follows Delivery Agent’s acquisition the previous week of Billion Dollar Babies, a designer-fashions sample sale site.

Mike Fitzsimmons, chief executive of Delivery Agent, said: "We launched the market for shopping-enabled entertainment when we made it possible for television viewers to go online and buy things related to their favourite shows. Today, as so much entertainment content becomes and is available on other platforms, our expanded commerce and marketing technology will make it possible for our entertainment partners to reach, influence and transact with audiences wherever and whenever they happen to be watching premium content, whether through their television, mobile phone, online video player or whatever else is next."

T-Venture’s stake was made through its Connected Life and Work Fund run by Patrick Meisberger and which last week led the investment in Apprupt, an affiliate network for mobile applications. German venture capital firm Neuhaus Partners and state bank KfW also joined the Apprupt funding.
