Zesty books European travel with $7.2m

UK-based consumer healthcare company Zesty has secured $7.2m in a series A round featuring Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of wireless technology producer Qualcomm.

The round was led by venture capital firm Innovation Capital and included Mangrove Capital Partners, Maya Capital, TA Venture and ABRT Venture Fund.

Founded in 2013, Zesty provides a rapid online booking service for healthcare patients. The company initially focused on public and private dental appointments in London and has since grown to a network of more than 2,000 healthcare providers.

The series A funding will enable Zesty to accelerate its growth in London and the UK and support an expansion into the rest of Europe. It plans to enter several major cities across the continent within the next 18 months.

Mangrove provided an undisclosed amount of seed funding for Zesty in 2012, before Mangrove, TA and ABRT invested an additional $2m in seed funding the following year.

Miles Kirby, senior director of Qualcomm Ventures, will join Zesty’s board as an observer, as will Nicolas Duleroy from Maya Capital.

Kirby said: “The Zesty team has built a suite of mobile and internet products to directly improve access to healthcare in the UK, and we look forward to helping them expand their service across Europe with our knowledge and network in the mobile IT and digital health ecosystems.”
