US-based lifestyle and e-commerce company Brit Media has secured $23m for a series B round backed by semiconductor manufacturer Intel, acccording to a regulatory filing.
Although the company has not named any investors in the round, the filing reveals that Lisa Lambert, vice-president of Intel’s corporate venturing unit Intel Capital, has joined Brit’s board, implying Intel’s participation.
Fred Harman, managing partner of private equity firm Oak Investment Partners, confirmed to VentureBeat that Oak also contributed to the latest round.
Brit Media operates a lifestyle website called Brit + Co which provides articles, recipes and tutorials for DIY skills such as hand-lettering, knitting and 3D printing. The website also offers a monthly subscription box service called Brit Kits that contains materials for curated DIY projects.
Oak led a $6.3m series A round for Brit in 2013 that also featured Index Ventures, Lerer Ventures, Cowboy Ventures and angel investors including Marissa Mayer, chief executive of internet company Yahoo.
Index, Cowboy Ventures, Mayer, media conglomerate DMGT, Founders Fund Angel and a range of other angel investors backed Brit’s $1.25m seed round the year before.
