Weekly corporate venturing deal net: 8-12 June 2015

Ralali, an Indonesia-based business-to-business marketplace for maintenance, repair and operational products, raised $2.5m in series A funding from Beenos Plaza, the investment arm of e-commerce group Beenos, CyberAgent Ventures, which fulfils the same function for internet company CyberAgent, VC firm East Ventures and an undisclosed angel investor on Monday. It will invest the funding in product development, hiring more staff and boosting user acquisition.

Healthcare services provider Surgical Care Affiliates has invested $3m in Arrowlytics, a US-based analytics platform. Arrowlytics targets the healthcare industry, and has developed a cloud-based business intelligence platform that collects information from different system into a unified dataset.

SEB Alliance, the corporate venturing arm of financial services provider Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken, has backed a series A round of undisclosed size for US-based toothbrush maker Kolibree. Innovacom, Cap Horn Invest and the Dental Investment Group for Health also contributed.

Local ID, a US-based platform that enables stores to keep tabs on what is happening in their neighbourhood to fend off competition or identify local events for marketing opportunities, closed a $1.9m seed round. The round was led by Crosscut Ventures and featured media and entertainment technology producer Technicolor alongside TenOneTen, Baroda Ventures, Double M Partners, Tallwave, Wavemaker Partners and Queens Bridge Venture Partners.

Bloomberg Beta, the corporate venturing division of media company Bloomberg, has backed a $1.75m round for Bright Funds, a US-based software-as-a-service that enables charitable donations through the payroll. The round was led by Aspiration Growth and featured 10K Investments, Wellspring Growth Partnersas well as Mission & Market.

Juniqe, a Germany-based marketplace offering affordable art, has secured €5m ($5.6m) for a series A round led by diversified conglomerate Vorwerk’s corporate venturing arm Vorwerk Ventures. Corporate-backed venture capital fund High-Tech Gründerfonds, printing services provider Cewe and Redalpine also participated in the round. The funding will support efforts for an increased presence in France, Belgium and Switzerland.

Publishing company McClatchy has led a $1.9m seed round for US-based mobile hiring platform Moonlighting. New Richmond Ventures, Baltimore Angels and angel investor Paul Palmieri contributed to the round. McClatchy will integrate the platform into its own offering, while the funding will support Moonlighting’s expansion and product development.

PrimeAgain, a Japan-based developer of smartphone apps such as video sharing service Winker, secured $809,000 in seed funding from ad-network company i-Mobile, mobile games developer Gumi’s corporate venturing arm Gumi Ventures, East Ventures and unnamed angel investors.
