Digital advertising company Value-First has exited India-based e-commerce recommendation platform Rocket Science Innovations through an acquisition by media company NewsHunt, the Economic Times reported on Thursday.
The financial terms of the acquisition, a cash and stock deal, have not been revealed. Value-First, the only disclosed backer of Rocket Science, invested Rs 60m ($945,000) in 2013.
Founded in 2012, Rocket Science operates advertising platform BuyT ContentLink. BuyT analyses the content a user is currently consuming and searches e-commerce websites such as Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal to display relevant product advertising.
Rocket Science will continue to operate independently but will also integrate its technology into NewsHunt’s next iteration of its localised news services.
Virendra Gupta, founder and chief executive of NewsHunt, said: “Our thesis is that we are the first point of internet access for local language users and helping them access more goods and services.
“E-commerce firms are also trying to reach these consumers and this is our first step in enabling it.”
