Foody, the Vietnam-based online restaurant review platform backed by online entertainment company Garena and internet company CyberAgent, has received an undisclosed amount of series C funding just one month after it raised a seven-figure amount in its series B round, Tech in Asia reported on Tuesday. Garena supplied the series B cash, after raising an undisclosed sum from CyberAgent Ventures, which acts as CyberAgent’s investment arm, and Pix Vine Capital across two earlier rounds.
UXPin, a Poland-based collaborative design tool developer backed by media company International Data Group (IDG), has secured $5m in a series A round led by venture capital firm True Ventures. The company previously raised $250,000 from Polish investors before adding another $1.6m from IDG Ventures, a corporate venturing affiliate of IDG, Freestyle Capital, and Andreessen Horowitz in a seed round that closed in February 2014.
US-based automotive catalyst materials producer SDCmaterials raised an undisclosed amount on Tuesday in a round led by SAIC Technologies Fund, the corporate venturing arm of China-based carmaker SAIC Motor Corporation. The round also included General Motors Ventures and Volvo Group Venture Capital, subsidiaries of carmakers GM and Volvo, chemicals producer BASF, Emerald Technology Ventures and Invus Financial Advisors, all of which took part as existing investors.
Swisscom Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of telecommunications firm Swisscom, invested an undisclosed amount in UK-based voice data technology provider Cognia on Monday. Cognia’s past investors include Vodafone Ventures, the strategic investment arm of telecommunications company Vodafone, and growth equity firm Oxford Capital Partners, which led a $3.2m round for the company, then known as Compliance Phones, in 2011.
US-based broad spectrum management technology producer Digital Global Systems (DGS) raised $4m in series A-2 funding on Tuesday from networking technology provider LGS Innovations, investment firm CoVant Technologies and undisclosed new and existing investors. DGS, which has now raised $8.25m altogether, will spend the money on its market expansion and development of SigBase, its spectrum asset and wireless communication management platform.
Domino Data Lab, the US-based developer of an analytical modelling platform for analysts and data scientists, secured an undisclosed amount on Tuesday in a series A round led by VC firm Zetta Venture Partners and backed by media company Bloomberg’s early-stage investment fund Bloomberg Beta and In-Q-Tel, the VC representative of the US intelligence community. The startup raised $100,000 in April this year, according to a regulatory filing, but said this week it targeted additional capital to build the business more quickly.
Zimmber, the India-based operator of an online marketplace for on-demand home and local services, has secured $2m in funding from IDG Ventures India, a local corporate venturing affiliate of International Data Group, Omdiyar Network, and angel investors Ram Shriram, and V. Mohandas Pai. It raised $400,000 earlier this month from angel investors, and an undisclosed amount of earlier angel funding.
Samsung Venture Investment Corporation, a corporate venturing subsidiary of electronics manufacturer Samsung, invested $2m in US-based online user-generated video platform Jukin Media yesterday. Jukin had previously received $2.2m in funding from Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments, a subsidiary of media group Bertelsmann, online video network Maker Studios, Karlin Ventures, Canyon Creek Capital, Kombo Ventures, Launchpad LA and several angel investors.
US-based outbound sales automation software startup PersistIQ raised $1.7m yesterday in a seed round backed by enterprise software provider Salesforce.com, Point Nine Capital, Y Combinator and undisclosed angel investors. PersistIQ will spend the cash on product development and increasing its sales capabilities as it works to become the primary outbound sales service.
Drone manufacturer DJI has invested an undisclosed sum in US-based drone rental service DroneBase through the $10m SkyFund it formed with VC firm Accel Partners in May, TechCrunch reported yesterday. DroneBase, which enables anyone to hire an unmanned aerial vehicle and pilot, previously raised an undisclosed amount in a March 2015 seed round led by Union Square Ventures that included SV Angel, Rothenberg Ventures and Launchpad LA.
Lea(R)n, the US-based developer of the LearnTrials education technology information platform, secured more than $800,000 in Thursday in a seed round led by firm Edovate Capital that also included telecommunications company AT&T, educational resources provider Kaplan, accelerator Techstars, IMAF-RTP and assorted angel investors. The startup graduated Kaplan’s EdTech Accelerator in July 2014, receiving $20,000 in the process.
E27, a Singapore-based technology media company that includes corporate-backed VC fund B Dash Ventures among its backers, has received $650,000 in bridge funding from undisclosed new and existing investors, TechCrunch reported on Monday. The fundraising follows $615,000 raised from B Dash Ventures, Pinehurst Advisors, Ardent Capital and Dan Neary in 2013, and was secured ahead of a $3m round E27 plans to close before the end of 2015.
TheKard, the Philippines-based creator of mobile loyalty app MobKard, has raised up to $373,000 in a round led by LED advertising company Globaltronics, Deal Street Asia reported on Tuesday. It will use the funding to officially launch MobKard, which sends customers special offers for local shops and services based on their location.
