India-based public wifi provider Ozone Networks, backed by conglomerate Access Industries, has been acquired by telecoms firm New Call Telecom International, VC Circle reported earlier today.
Established in 2008, Ozone operates public wifi hotspots in restaurants, cafés, shops, airports and across several cities, as well as private hotspots in hospitals, hotels and educational institutions. The company claims to have set up a total of 6,500 access points.
Ozone’s clients include fast food chains Taco Bell, KFC and Pizza Hut as well as Mumbai aiport, and café chain Costa Coffee.
In 2008, Access Industries provided an undisclosed amount of seed funding.
