Intel Capital, the investment vehicle of semiconductor company Intel, today announced it has committed a total of $67m in investments in eight China-based startups.
Intel has not revealed how much money each individual startup received, and noted that not all deals have closed yet.
Among the startups is 99cloud, which exploits cloud computing software platform OpenStack, and offers a range of products as well as professional training and certification for the technology. Similarly, AWCloud also offers software built on OpenStack.
Bluebank Communication Technology is a hardware company creating mobile devices for third parties, while Hampoo sells hardware components for smart device manufacturers.
Ninebot, which acquired electric scooter maker Segway in April 2015, produces personal transportation equipment such as unicycles and two-wheel self-balancing products.
Nuovo Film’s technology enables advanced touch screen interaction such as consumer products company Apple’s 3D touch feature on the iPhone.
PraFly develops robotics and control systems that have applications in manufacturing, network maintenance and energy management.
Finally, Intel has also inked an investment agreement with Telink, which is working on low power radio-frequency and mixed signal chips for the internet of things, which enable products such as smart lighting and home automation.
Intel Capital has invested more $1.9bn in more than 140 businesses in China since 1998.
