Baronova, a US-based medical device developer backed by pharmaceutical firm Allergan, completed a $36.5m series D round co-led by private equity firm Delos Capital and venture capital firm Longitude Capital yesterday.
The round, which also included Lumira Capital Partners, Onset Ventures and Sante Ventures, will fund a pivotal study for Baronova’s endoscopically-delivered TransPyloric Shuttle weight-loss device.
Baronova has now raised about $78m in funding since it was founded in 2006, with Allergan leading a $7.5m series B round in 2008 that also featured Arboretum Ventures, Highland Capital Partners and Onset Ventures.
Other investors include medical device maker Boston Scientific, which co-led Baronova’s $27.3m series C round with Sante Ventures in 2013.
