Steve Murray, formerly the managing director of SoftBank Capital, a corporate venturing subsidiary of telecommunications firm Softbank, is moving on to venture capital firm Revolution Growth.
The news follows the announcement by Softbank in June 2015 that it is winding down SoftBank Capital in favour of a corporate venturing model consisting of fewer, larger investments.
Murray joined Softbank Capital as a partner in 1996 and has taken board seats at a variety of startups, including wearable device manufacturer Fitbit and online lending platform Kabbage. He had previously worked for accountancy and consulting firm Deloitte for seven years.
Murray will begin working for Revolution Growth on January 25, according to a statement on Tuesday, joining a recently hired team members including three new vice-presidents.
Murray said: “I look forward to joining the team and playing a role in discovering and investing in great, disruptive young companies who are prime for significant growth.”
