US-based web traffic management technology developer Cedexis closed a $22m series B round on Tuesday that included contract manufacturer Foxconn, virtualisation software provider Citrix Systems and communications technology producer Nokia.
The round was led by venture capital firm Ginko Ventures, while fellow VC firms Advanced Technology Ventures and Madrona Ventures also contributed capital. Nokia invested through its Nokia Growth Partners unit.
French state-owned investment bank BPIfrance provided an additional $770,000 in the form of a business development loan.
Founded in 2009, Cedexis has created a real-time traffic management platform that optimises delivery of content across data centres, content delivery networks and the cloud across the world. The technology enables consumers to access online content faster.
The financing will go towards global expansion, customer acquisition and the broadening of the company’s product range. Cedexis will also recruit staff across its engineering, marketing and sales teams.
The round brought the total raised by Cedexis to $33m to date, according to the latest press release. Cedexis has only revealed details about its $6m series A round, funded by Madrona and Advanced Technology Ventures in 2011.
Bo Ilsoe, managing partner at Nokia Growth Partners, said: “With their ability to optimise internet performance and cost in real-time, Cedexis is a real game-changer for enterprises.
“With deep roots in both the US and France, we are delighted to invest in Cedexis and help accelerate their global expansion.”
