Kemp Technologies, a US-based manufacturer of IT server management hardware, has raised $6m according to a regulatory filing, building on funding from backers including financial services group Orix.
Kemp produces load balancing and application delivery controller technology for small and medium-sized businesses that ease network pressure following increased use of smartphones and other handheld devices. It has not disclosed the identity of the investors in its latest round.
Japan-based Orix took an equity stake in Kemp Technologies in 2012 through its Orix Venture Finance unit, investing in a $16m round alongside Edison Ventures, which put up $7.5m of the money, and Kennet Partners.
Kemp Technologies was incorporated in 2011 and has raised a total of $28m altogether. Earlier rounds included a $4m equity round that closed in 2014 and $2m of debt financing in 2012.
