China-based smart camera developer Zero Zero Robotics has revealed $25m in total funding from investors including IDG Capital Partners, a venture affiliate of media company International Data Group.
Zero Zero’s other shareholders include GSR Ventures, ZhenFund and Zuig. The company confirmed that it secured $23m in a series A round but has not disclosed further details concerning which investors were involved in the individual funding rounds or when they took place.
Founded in 2014, Zero Zero Robotics has created a consumer-grade autonomous flying camera, Hover Camera, that records high-resolution photos and movies. The device automatically balances itself when thrown into the air and shoots stable footage in windy conditions.
Meng Qiu Wang, CEO of Zero Zero Robotics, said: “We want to combine radical artificial intelligence technology and small flying robotics to create products that empower people to enhance their livelihood, and Hover Camera is a very exciting first step towards accomplishing our much larger mission.
“We are excited that this round of funding will allow us to introduce the public to Hover Camera, push the boundaries of what is possible, and reimagine the future of what truly autonomous flying devices can be.”
