US-based customer engagement platform Helpshift closed a $23m series B round today that featured the corporate venturing units of software producer Microsoft, cloud computing company Salesforce and semiconductor manufacturer Intel.
Microsoft Ventures, Salesforce Ventures and Intel Capital were joined by Nexus Venture Partners, True Ventures and Visionnaire Ventures. The deal marks the first time the three corporates have co-invested in a startup at once.
Founded in 2012, Helpshift operates a platform that can be integrated with mobile and web apps to help companies provide native customer support.
The cash injection will help Helpshift drive recruitment across its research and development, sales and marketing teams.
Intel Capital led a $10m series A round in 2014 that also featured Visionnaire Ventures, True Ventures and Nexus Venture Partners. True Ventures and Nexus also took part in a $3.2m seed round in 2012.
Nagraj Kashyap, corporate vice president, Microsoft Ventures, said: “Helpshift has been a great partner for Microsoft and our investment today represents our confidence in their messaging-based approach to customer service, as we hold a shared value of providing the seamless experience customers want.”
