Good Start Genetics, a US-based pregnancy testing kit for genetic disorders, has raised $18m in its series A round from a consortium including medical device group Safeguard Scientifics. The round was led by venture capital (VC) firm OrbiMed Advisors and also included VC peer SV Life Sciences.
Founded in December 2007 out of Harvard University, last year Good Start gained $500,000 through the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s $1bn Accelerator Program and joined its BU Business Incubation Program.
