US-headquartered ride hailing platform Uber and Malaysia-based telecommunications network Digi are collaborating on an ideation lab for startups, Tech in Asia reported yesterday.
The initiative will be conducted with the Malaysian state-backed Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC), which will host the lab at its campus in Cyberjaya. Digi will participate through its pre-accelerator program, Digi Incub8.
Entrepreneurs can apply for a place on the course until September 17, at which point representatives from Uber, Digi and MaGIC will choose 20 for the two week initiative, through which startups can learn about customer, product and marketing.
None of the partners running the scheme will necessarily invest in the startups, but participants will get the chance to pitch their ideas at the Global Entrepreneurship Community event in Kuala Lumpur in early November to win a chance to meet Uber executives and early-stage investors in Silicon Valley.
