Cassia routes $10m to series B

SumaVision USA, a subsidiary of digital television software provider SumaVision Technologies, yesterday backed a $10.3m series B round for Cassia Networks, a US-based manufacturer of Bluetooth routers.

The round was co-led by Everest Capital and IDG-Accel, a joint-venture of publishing company International Data Group and VC firm Accel Partners. China Rock, Social Starts, GCP Venture, Z-park Capital and TEEC Angel also contributed money.

Cassia Networks produces Bluetooth-based consumer products such as the long-range router Cassia Hub and Cassia BlueStream, which lets users set up a multi-room speaker system to stream audio from sources such as iTunes or Spotify across the house.

The capital will allow Cassia to continue its growth and increase its enterprise offering, which is aimed at a range of sectors such as education, fitness and sports, healthcare, audio and senior safety.

Cassia has now raised a total of $13m, according to its latest press release.

Felix Zhao, chief executive of Cassia Networks, said: “At Cassia, we are partnering with innovative companies aiming to develop emerging new applications for Bluetooth.

“We have received hundreds of inquiries about implementing our hubs in a variety of enterprise settings and industries and we are excited about the opportunity Bluetooth has to play in the growth of the internet of things.”
