TouchBistro, a Canada-based point-of-sale technology producer backed by food delivery service Just Eat, has received C$17m ($13m) in a series B round led by BDC IT Venture Fund.
The fund, an investment vehicle of the government-owned investment bank Business Development Bank of Canada, was joined by Round13 Capital, Huff Capital, Relay Ventures and Kensington Capital Partners.
TouchBistro has developed a point-of-service iPad app aimed at the food and drinks sector that enables staff to manage orders, reserve seats and split bills as well as track inventory and create and edit floor plans. The app also provides real-time insights into business performance.
The series B capital will support further company growth by increasing sales and marketing activities, forming industry partnerships and continuing development of the platform.
The company has now raised a total of C$30m, according to its latest press release. Just Eat participated in a C$6m series A round in April 2015 alongside Kensington Capital Partners, Relay Ventures and Difference Capital.
Kensington, Relay, Walden Venture Capital and assorted angel investors had provided C$6m in seed funding in 2013 and 2014.
