Statkraft Ventures, the strategic investment arm of energy utility Statkraft, led a $5m funding round for Norway-based smart meter software developer Greenbird Integration Technology on Tuesday that included cleantech-focused venture capital firm ETF Partners. Greenbird serves utilities representing more than 80% of the Norwegian market, and is preparing to expand internationally.
Annum Health, the US-based developer of a digital health treatment program for problem drinkers, has raised $5m in seed funding from investors including AXA Strategic Fund, the VC subsidiary of insurance firm AXA, MedCity News reported on Tuesday. The round also featured .406 Ventures and Canaan Partners, and will support the rollout of Annum’s product, which is expected to take place in mid-2017.
Australia-based autofill technology developer Fillr secured A$5M ($3.9m) on Monday in a series A round featuring SoftBank China, a subsidiary of telecommunications group SoftBank, and Reinventure, the VC firm sponsored by financial services firm Westpac. The round included Southern Cross Venture Partners and Constant Innovation, and will fund technology and product development as well as expansion in North America, Europe and Asia.
Orix Growth Capital, a VC subsidiary of financial services provider Orix, provided an undisclosed amount of funding on Tuesday for Practice Fusion, a US-based electronic health record software developer. Founded in 2005, Practice Fusion had raised about $160m in funding as of late 2014, and its shareholders include Qualcomm Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of mobile chipmaker Qualcomm, as well as Longitude Capital, Industry Ventures, Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers, Band of Angels and Artis Ventures.
India-based car sharing JustRide has raised $3m in bridge funding from SCM Holdings, Susa Ventures, Kima Ventures, Axan Ventures, IT Farm and angel investors Justin Kan, QasarYounis and Paul Buchheit, the Economic Times reported on Monday. JustRide has now raised $6.5m altogether, including $1m from Palaash Venture and assorted angel investors in August 2015.
Bizongo, the India-based operator of an online marketplace for business products like packaging materials, has received $3m in series A funding from media firm International Data Group’s IDG Ventures India unit and VC firm Accel, according to the Economic Times. The startup, which raised an undisclosed amount of seed capital from Accel in October 2015, will use the funding to further develop its technology and expand its seller base.
US-based customer service provider GetHuman has raised $3m from investors including O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, the early-stage investment vehicle for media company O’Reilly, according to a blog post by CEO Christian Allen. The round also featured NextView Ventures, Founder Collective, Operator.VC, Companyon, Correlation Ventures and Precursor Ventures.
Logistics service provider Gati has provided $3m of funding for India-based e-commerce inventory management software developer BrownTape Technologies, VCCircle reported on Monday, citing a stock market disclosure. BrownTape graduated from accelerator GSF in 2013 before reportedly closing almost $1m of funding from Seedfund and angel investor Krishnan Ganesh the following year.
Toyota Tsusho CSV Africa, a fund formed by carmaker Toyota’s trading arm, Toyota Tsusho, has invested $3m in Kenya-based IT services provider Seven Seas Technologies, TechMoran reported on Wednesday. Seven Seas’ existing shareholders include an undisclosed private equity firm and various local Kenyan investors.
The Wing, the US-based operator of a networking club for women, has received $2.4m of seed capital from BBG Ventures, the female-focused VC fund owned by online media company AOL, Forbes reported on Tuesday. The startup’s other backers include angel investors Julie Rice, Elizabeth Cutler, Hayley Barna, Harvey Spevak and Steve Case.
Monstar Lab, the Japan-based operator of crowdsourced app development service Sekai Lab, has raised ¥250m ($2.3m) from Gogin Capital, a VC subsidiary of financial services firm San-in Godo Bank, financial services provider Resona Group’s Resona Capital unit and undisclosed existing investors, The Bridge reported on Wednesday. The round follows $3.3m from Pasona Tech, part of human resources provider Pasona Group, and DG Incubation, a subsidiary of internet company Digital Garage, in November 2015.
Indonesia-based online education course provider HarukaEdu has raised $2.2m in funding from CyberAgent Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of internet company CyberAgent, as well as publisher Pearson’s Affordable Learning Fund and Samator Education, a subsidiary of conglomerate Samator, Business Standard reported on Monday. HarakaEdu, which participated in internet technology provider Google’s Launchpad accelerator earlier this year, had received an undisclosed amount of series A funding from CyberAgent Ventures in 2014.
Fieldbit, a Netherlands-based developer of augmented reality technology for field services, received €2m ($2.2m) in funding from industrial processes network Actemium and IT equipment provider Axians, on Wednesday. Both investors are subsidiaries of energy and information technology service provider Vinci Energies, and will make use of Fieldbit’s software platform to develop specialised products.
Annexus Ventures, the VC firm formed by insurance provider Annnexus, invested an undisclosed amount in RetireUp, a US-based developer of software that helps users make financial plans for retirement, on Tuesday. The investment, made at an undisclosed eight-figure valuation, was announced less than a week after Annexus Ventures was formally launched.
Toast, the Singapore-based operator of an online platform that helps users transfer money to their home countries, has raised $1.5m in a pre-series A round led by investment firm Aetius Capital that included financial services provider Pepper Group and VC fund 1776, E27 reported on Wednesday. Aetius also led an $850,000 seed round for Toast in October 2015 that included Ace & Company and One Zero Capital.
ServiceNow Ventures, the corporate venturing arm of enterprise cloud computing company ServiceNow, supplied an undisclosed amount of seed capital to MobiChord, a US-based developer of telecom service management software, on Monday. MobiChord will put the funding toward product development and expanding its international sales and operations.
Naffa Innovations, the India-based operator of mobile payments platform ToneTag, has received an undisclosed amount of funding from angel investors Arun Seth, T.V. Mohandas Pai, Anand Chandrasekaran and Deepak Ghaisas, LiveMint reported yesterday. The funding follows a $1m investment by Reliance Venture Asset Management, a subsidiary of conglomerate Reliance Holdings, in August 2015.
