Salesforce Ventures, the corporate venture capital subsidiary of enterprise software provider Salesforce.com, took part in a $20m round for US-based customer service software developer Samanage yesterday.
The round also included venture capital funds Carmel Ventures and Gemini Israel Ventures, and VC firms Marker and Vintage Investment Partners.
Samanage provides service desk and asset management software for enterprises. It built its latest product, an IT management platform called Service Desk, Enterprise Edition, on Salesforce’s Service Cloud, and the software is available on the Salesforce AppExchange store.
John Somorjai, Salesforce’s executive vice-president of corporate development and Salesforce Ventures, said: “At Salesforce Ventures, we are fuelling the next generation of innovative technology within the Salesforce ecosystem.
“With companies like Samanage, we can extend the power of the Salesforce platform, making our customers even more successful.”
Samanage has now raised $44m altogether, with Marker, Vintage Investment Partners, Carmel Ventures, Gemini Israel Ventures and Silicon Valley Bank supplying $16m for its series B round in mid-2015.
Carmel had invested $3m in the company at seed stage in 2012 before returning for a $5m series A round in 2013 that also featured Gemini Israeli Ventures.
