Dome9 structures $16.5m series C round

US-based cloud infrastructure security company Dome9 Security has closed a $16.5m series C round led by internet and telecommunications group SoftBank and backed by unnamed existing shareholders.

Dome9 Security has developed a software platform to handle security operations such as policy enforcement and threat visualisation, and to enable compliance in public and multi-cloud ecosystems.

The Dome9 Arc technology integrates with cloud offerings such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform. SoftBank will become the leading distributor of Dome9 Arc in its home country of Japan as part of the deal.

The company has now secured a total of $29m in funding, according to its latest press release. ORR Partners led its $8.3m series B round in 2015 with participation from JAL Ventures, Pinnacle, Lazarus Israel Opportunity Fund and Opus Capital Ventures.

Opus had previously provided an undisclosed amount in series A funding in 2011 when Dome9 launched its platform.

Masayuki Motoshima, director of cybersecurity business development for SoftBank, said: “As enterprise adoption of the cloud continues to accelerate, there is a growing need for cloud-native solutions that simplify security operations and compliance.

“Dome9’s strong traction in the enterprise market attests to the value the technology delivers, and led to our decision to invest. Dome9 gives enterprise customers the confidence that their workloads are secure in the cloud.

“I am confident that together SoftBank and Dome9 will help Japanese organisations maximise the benefit they get from migrating to the cloud.”
