Imzy closes up shop

Imzy, the US-based online forum backed by the corporate venturing arm of digital media company O’Reilly Media, will wind up its offering on 23 June, according to TechCrunch.

Imzy secured $3m of seed funding in May 2016 from O’Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, the company’s investment subsidiary, and venture capital firm CRV.

In October 2016, the business raised $8m in a series A round led by Index Ventures.

Imzy had hoped to offer a kinder, more positive online forum than many of its peers.

Dan McComas, co-founder and former senior vice-president at Reddit, said in a blog post the company was unable to find its place in the market.
