Capson Physicians Insurance has raised $13.5m from a consortium including the corporate venturing unit of US-based health insurer BlueCross BlueShield, according to news provider American-Statesman.
BlueCross BlueShield Venture Partners was joined in Capson’s initial round by Beazley Investments, a subsidiary of Lloyds of London insurer Beazley, American-Statesman said.
Maury Magids (pictured) started Capson in January after selling American Physicians Service Group, which also provides malpractice coverage, to US-based ProAssurance for a reported $250m.
