Google Ventures, the corporate venturing unit of US-listed search engine group Google, has hired its first partner for New York to be closer to the world’s largest advertising services market.
Erik Nordlander, has become a partner of engineering at Google Ventures in New York City after working at the firm leading the team that built Google’s display advertising serving system and helping the company’s acquisition and technical integration of Doubleclick.
Google Ventures was launched last year to formalise the company’s corporate venturing strategy with the team based at its parent’s California headquarters or Boston office. The team invests about $100m per year across sectors.
