Motion AI reaches HubSpot in acquisition deal

US-based chatbot developer Motion AI has been acquired by marketing software provider HubSpot for an undisclosed amount, giving an exit to music management agency Crush Management.

Motion AI has developed a chatbot editor that allows companies to develop custom virtual assistants that work on websites and SMS platforms as well as online messaging systems such as Facebook Messenger and Slack, with no coding needed.

The company’s software had already been integrated with HubSpot’s customer relationship management offering prior to the acquisition, and Motion AI’s entire team will join HubSpot, the corporate’s chief strategy officer Brad Coffey told VentureBeat.

Coffey added: “We are going to bring the two products together and make sure that it comes as part of the core of the platform, and part of that is being able to leverage the data and information that exists in HubSpot, and being able to handle more standardisation.”

Crush Management’s venture capital arm, Crush Ventures, led Motion AI’s $700,000 seed round in late 2015, investing alongside Hyde Park Angels and angel investors Andrew Fursman, Guy Gamzu and Micha Kaufman.
