Shell energises India with accelerator

Oil and gas company Shell launched an accelerator initiative for early, pilot and post-pilot energy technology startups called E4 (Energising and Enabling Energy Entrepreneurs) in India yesterday.

Selected companies will work with Shell for six months and receive a fixed amount of up to up to $20,000 in funding.

Participants will also get access to technology and IT labs in the corporate’s newly opened Shell Technology Centre in the city of Bangalore, as well as mentorship from executives in and outside of Shell and access to potential customers.

The program opened for applications yesterday and closes on November 17, 2017. The first cohort of startups selected will start work on December 4. E4 follows Shell’s launch of an accelerator for energy-related startups in Singapore called IdeaRefinery last month.

Shell India chairman Nitin Prasad said: “The Shell E4 program provides a platform for collaboration and conversation around valuable energy transitions, offering startups an opportunity to bring their ideas to life with Shell’s guidance and support.”
