Happy Returns brings back $8m

Happy Returns, a US-based e-commerce logistics operator backed by advertising agency R/GA, has secured $8m in a series B round led by venture capital firm US Venture Partners.

VC firm Upfront Ventures and private investor Brian Spaly also participated in the round, which increased the company’s total funding to $14m. The company received $120,000 from R/GA in October 2016 through R/GA’s Connected Commerce accelerator.

Happy Returns offers a back-end service that allows e-commerce vendors to accept returned goods through brick-and-mortar retail stores operated by its partners. The platform is used by clients including fashion label Carbon38 and clothing e-commerce portal Everlane.

The capital will be used to develop additional products and increase the number of retail branches that provide Happy Returns services. Proceeds will also fund investment in operations, sales and engineering.

Upfront Ventures led Happy Returns’ $1.9m seed round in April 2016, investing alongside Lowercase Capital and Maveron, all three returning for a $4m series A round in September 2017 that also featured Brian Spaly.
