PacketFabric weaves $25m series B

PacketFabric, a US-based networking services provider that is part of conglomerate NantWorks, secured $25m in a series B round led by NantCapital.

NantCapital is the personal investment vehicle of Patrick Soon-Shiong, founder, chairman and chief executive of NantWorks.

PacketFabric operates an automated software-defined network for clients to easily set up real-time, dynamic connections between colocation facilities across 17 US states. Clients can either use a web-based portal to set up networks or use the application program interface.

Chad Milam has been appointed as president and chief operating officer of PacketFabric, and he has joined the board of directors as a result. Milam previously served as chief technology officer at NantWorks and at enterprise bandwidth provider Mox Networks.

PacketFabric previously closed a seed round in 2015, according to the latest press release, though additional details about the company’s earlier funding could not be ascertained.

Soon-Shiong said: “This next-generation internet innovation of interconnectivity on demand will enable big data transport as a platform for multiple industries, and I am excited to fund this talented team at PacketFabric and their efforts to provide market-defining solutions.”
