Virtustream completes A round

Virtustream, a US-based cloud computing platform and services company, has completed its $49.4m series A round after almost exactly two years of trying.

Virtustream started raising its round on 15 January 2009 and closed it on target on the 14th from 10 investors, according to its regulatory filing.

In May, Intel Capital, the corporate venturing division of US-based chip maker Intel, invested in the $15m series A extension round of Virtustream, a provider of virtual technology.

Venture capital firms Noro-Moseley Partners and TDFunds joined Intel Capital in the fund extension and Virtustream by then had raised $40m in series A financing. The initial part of the round came from VCs Columbia Capital and Blue Lagoon Capital. Virtustream was formed in the autumn by the merger of VirtualizeIT and Bright Technologies.
