Avi networks its way to $60m

US-based automated application services provider Avi Networks raised $60m in an oversubscribed series D round backed by Cisco Investments, the corporate venturing arm of networking equipment manufacturer Cisco.

DAG Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners and Menlo Ventures also backed the series B round.

Avi Networks has developed an automated application services platform, called Avi Vantage Platform, which offers features such as a firewall for web applications and a software load balancer, which distributes incoming traffic to individual computing resources.

The company already has an ongoing partnership with Cisco, which resells the platform internationally, and has integrated the platform with Cisco ACI, the corporate’s automation service for data centres.

Avi has now raised $115m, according to the latest press release. It has not disclosed details about its series C round, reportedly raised in 2016.

The company emerged from stealth four years ago, revealing a $12.2m series A round secured in 2012 from Greylock Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners and a $20.8m series B led by Menlo, with participation from Greylock and Lightspeed, in 2014.
