US-based medical analytics software producer Caresyntax closed a $31.9m funding round yesterday that featured Norgine Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of pharmaceutical firm Norgine.
The round was led by healthcare artificial intelligence-focused investment firm Surgical AI with a $20m commitment. Surgical AI was established by Dennis Kogan and Bjoern von Siemens, the two co-founders of Caresyntax, in 2011.
Norgine Ventures had already committed $11.9m in September 2017.
Founded in 2013, Caresyntax has developed an analytics platform that relies on internet-of-things technology to connect surgical devices with electronic health records. The data is used to help senior management and surgeons identify and manage risk and automate workflows.
The capital will enable Caresyntax to further expand across the US.
