Andrew Alliance, a US-based developer of robotics technology for laboratories, received $14m in a series C round yesterday from investors including lab instruments vendors Tecan and Waters and automated lab technology producer Inpeco.
Rancilio Cube, Sam Eletr Trust and Omega Funds also took part in the series C round.
Andrew Alliance is developing robots aimed at handling liquids in laboratories while eliminating routine pipetting errors and time-consuming manual tasks.
The cash injection will support product development and strategic industry partnerships. The company will also extend its collaboration with customers to refine future products.
Omega Funds previously supplied an undisclosed amount in series B funding in 2014, though details about a series A round have not emerged.
Paul Tardif, senior director of corporate development at Waters, said: “Andrew Alliance’s robot changes the game for repeatability – and further improves our customers’ operational efficiency.
“The Andrew robots are extraordinarily affordable and solve a persistent problem. Our customers are eager for a ready-to-use solution like this.”
